Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago, and this role is based on Java, on the island’s western side in Jakarta. Jakarta offers extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, finance, technology, and international business. The lifestyle is energetic and urban, with shopping malls, nightlife, diverse Indonesian cuisine, cultural attractions, and easy access to destinations such as Bandung, Bali, and the Thousand Islands. Indonesian workplace culture generally values politeness, hierarchy, relationship-building, flexibility, and teamwork. Foreign nationals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa and work permit; working legally on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers normally assist with sponsorship, documentation, and immigration procedures. Relocation costs, accommodation, health insurance, transport, and tax treatment should be clarified before accepting an offer. Jakarta is affordable compared with many global capitals, although traffic is heavy and housing costs vary considerably by neighborhood.
