Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering especially strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, events, restaurants, retail, aviation and entertainment. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress and respect for local customs are expected, particularly during Ramadan. Dubai is energetic and modern, with beaches, shopping, nightlife, desert excursions and excellent public transport, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange entry permits, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and work authorization, and may provide accommodation or an allowance. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, housing, transport, insurance, leave, probation terms and repatriation benefits. Bring authenticated qualifications where required and budget for initial expenses while paperwork is completed.
