Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, food and beverage, retail, marine activities, technology and business services. For this role, Batam is a practical base: it is an industrial and commercial island close to Singapore, with international connections, modern housing and a comparatively active expatriate community. Bintan, where the resort is located, is quieter and more resort-focused, with beaches, golf, mangroves and a relaxed lifestyle. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect for elders, community relationships and religious diversity; modest dress and sensitivity to local customs are appreciated. Living costs are generally lower than Singapore, although resort areas can be more expensive. Foreign employees normally need employer-sponsored work authorization, including the appropriate work permit and limited-stay visa or KITAS; requirements can change, so confirm details with the employer and Indonesian immigration authorities. Batam and Bintan are connected by ferries, while domestic flights link major Indonesian cities.
