Destination Guide

Thailand offers strong hospitality opportunities on Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Chang, Koh Samet and the mainland resort areas of Rayong, Pattaya and Krabi. Common jobs include hotel operations, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa services, diving, sales and guest relations. Thai culture values politeness, respect for hierarchy, modest behavior and friendly service; learning basic Thai phrases is highly useful. Island life is generally relaxed, with beaches, outdoor activities and lower living costs than Bangkok, although transport, healthcare and international shopping can be more limited. Rayong provides a quieter coastal lifestyle while remaining connected to Bangkok. Foreign employees normally need a Thai employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before starting work. Employers may assist with documentation, but requirements and fees should be confirmed with Thai authorities. Candidates should budget for housing, transport, insurance and seasonal income differences.
