Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination combining a sophisticated city with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands such as Lantau, Lamma and Cheung Chau. Hospitality offers many opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, events, tourism and property services, particularly in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay and resort areas. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in international workplaces. Life is fast-paced, convenient and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food and a high cost of housing. Overseas employees generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, normally supported by proof of qualifications, experience, a genuine job offer and market-level salary. Employers often guide successful candidates through the application process. Budgeting for rent, deposits, transport and healthcare before relocating is important.
