Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers hospitality opportunities in Colombo, Galle, Bentota, Kandy, Hambantota and other tourist areas, particularly in hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel services and wellness. The culture combines Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim and colonial influences, with strong traditions of family, religion, festivals and warm guest hospitality. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international destinations, although Colombo is more expensive than regional towns. The island provides beaches, wildlife parks, mountains, tea country and historic cities, with a tropical climate and varied regional weather. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work visa or residence approval arranged with Sri Lankan authorities before starting employment; requirements can change, so official guidance should be checked. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, meals, transport, medical cover, service charge, tax and return-travel benefits in the employment contract.
