Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Hotels and resorts regularly recruit security officers, guest-service staff, chefs, engineers and supervisors, although employers usually prefer candidates with relevant experience and strong English communication. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, healthcare is reliable and the city is generally very safe, but accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Popular lifestyle attractions include hawker centres, museums, parks, beaches on Sentosa and vibrant neighbourhoods such as Little India and Chinatown. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Candidates should secure a written job offer before relocating and check current Ministry of Manpower requirements. Employer support with accommodation or relocation varies.
