Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Admiralty, Causeway Bay, the airport and major resort areas. The culture combines Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, hiking trails, beaches and compact urban neighbourhoods. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many workers share accommodation or live in the New Territories. Foreign employees normally need an approved employment visa before starting work, usually sponsored by the employer, and must meet immigration and qualification requirements. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, insurance, banking and an identity card after approval.
