Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality and events opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, conferences, weddings, tourism, sales and guest services. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in major hotels. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed island life, with affordable food, tropical weather and strong public transport in larger cities. Malaysia’s islands provide beaches, diving and outdoor activities, although seasonal rain can affect travel and tourism demand. Foreign applicants normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, with approval handled through Malaysian immigration authorities; working before approval is not permitted. Relocating candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, tax obligations and contract terms. Costs are generally moderate, but major cities and popular resort islands can be more expensive.
