Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, with resort jobs especially common on Langkawi, Penang and islands around Sabah. The culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in hotels and tourism. Lifestyle ranges from busy cities and affordable local food to relaxed beaches, rainforest excursions and water sports. Living costs are generally moderate, although resort-island accommodation and transport can be limited or seasonal. Foreign employees normally need an Employment Pass or other work authorisation arranged and sponsored by the employer; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should verify passport validity, medical requirements, contract terms, accommodation, taxation and dependent arrangements before relocating. Island postings may offer staff housing but can feel quieter and more isolated than city locations.
