Guest Relations Officer

Singapore Shangri-La SGD 2,500–3,500/month*
Job Description

The Guest Relations Officer welcomes guests, manages arrivals and departures, handles enquiries and feedback, coordinates special requests, and helps ensure a smooth, personalised stay. Candidates should have hospitality or customer-service experience, strong communication skills, a professional appearance, and a genuine interest in guest care. Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are useful in Singapore’s international hotel market. The role requires good computer skills, attention to detail, patience, cultural awareness, and the flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Shangri-La will expect the successful candidate to represent the hotel warmly, resolve concerns efficiently, maintain service standards, and work cooperatively with front-office and other hotel departments.

Shangri-La Singapore is a landmark luxury hotel set in extensive tropical gardens near Orchard Road. It serves international leisure and business travellers, families, and events guests through multiple accommodation wings, restaurants, meeting facilities, and recreational amenities. Employees are generally expected to deliver warm Asian hospitality, maintain high grooming and service standards, and work closely across departments. The company offers opportunities in guest services, food and beverage, culinary operations, housekeeping, engineering, sales, finance, and other hotel functions.

Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, and logistics. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also common. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, reliable infrastructure, safe neighbourhoods, diverse food, shopping, parks, and easy access to nearby Asian destinations. Living costs are high, especially rent, so shared accommodation or employer-supported housing can be helpful. Foreign employees generally need an approved work pass before starting employment; hotels commonly sponsor eligible applications such as the Work Permit, S Pass, or Employment Pass, depending on salary, qualifications, and sector rules. Applicants should confirm current Ministry of Manpower requirements, medical checks, and pass conditions. Relocating is straightforward, but budgeting for deposits, transport, insurance, and initial expenses is important.
