Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, events, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology and international business. The culture is multicultural, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian and global influences, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, offering excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy access to nearby countries. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many newcomers rent rooms or share apartments. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government assessment. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, healthcare, deposits and daily expenses, and confirm accommodation and visa arrangements before relocating.
