Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, finance, retail, technology, education and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the airport and resort areas such as Lantau Island. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; politeness, punctuality and service awareness are valued. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, extensive dining and easy access to hiking, beaches and nearby islands. Rents can be high, particularly in central districts, so many employees live in Kowloon or the New Territories and commute. Overseas employees normally need an employer-sponsored work visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, with approval depending on qualifications, salary and an eligible job offer. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, housing support, medical coverage and relocation benefits directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
