Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, restaurants, sales, events and business services. Kuala Lumpur is the main commercial centre, while Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak provide strong resort and destination-tourism employment. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with a multicultural food scene and generally welcoming communities. Lifestyle costs are moderate by international standards, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular islands can be more expensive. Langkawi and Penang suit people seeking island or coastal living; Kuala Lumpur offers better transport, schools and career variety. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling approval and immigration procedures. Candidates should confirm qualifications, contract terms, medical requirements and dependent arrangements before relocating. English is widely used in hospitality, while Malay is the national language.
