Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not a single island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with extensive coastal communities and resort destinations. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, aviation, retail, logistics and facilities management offer regular job opportunities. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international workforce; modest dress, respect for Islam and awareness of Ramadan customs are important. Lifestyle ranges from modern city living and beaches to desert excursions, shopping and outdoor activities, although summers are extremely hot. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work permit and residence visa; employers usually arrange the main process after a signed offer. Relocation commonly requires a passport, medical examination, attested qualifications where applicable and background documents. Confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, probation and visa costs in writing before accepting an offer.
