Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, tourism, finance, retail, technology, logistics and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business and hospitality, although Cantonese is valuable for daily life. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, shopping, nightlife and easy access to hiking trails, beaches and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many employees choose shared accommodation or locations connected by the MTR. Foreign professionals normally require an approved employment visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, with employer sponsorship and proof of qualifications, experience and a genuine job offer. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. Before relocating, candidates should confirm visa eligibility, accommodation costs, medical coverage, taxation and the employer’s relocation support.
