Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, and retail. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and neighbourhoods. Lifestyle is safe, convenient, and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, hawker centres, parks, and waterfront attractions. Living costs are relatively high, especially rent, so employer accommodation or shared housing can be important for hospitality workers. Foreign employees generally need a valid work pass arranged by an employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, and the role, with hotels commonly using relevant work-permit or employment-pass routes. New arrivals should budget for deposits, transport, healthcare, and daily expenses, and check current Singapore immigration requirements before relocating.
