Job Description

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in managing hotel facilities, building systems, preventive maintenance, repairs, and engineering projects. Candidates are typically expected to hold a diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or building services engineering, with several years of experience in hotel or commercial property maintenance. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire and life-safety systems, energy conservation, and local regulations is important. The role requires leadership, budgeting, contractor supervision, emergency-response readiness, and effective coordination with other departments. Shangri-La would expect a hands-on, service-minded manager who can maintain high safety, quality, sustainability, and guest-comfort standards while developing the engineering team.
