Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island, with popular island destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang and parts of Sabah. Hospitality, tourism, events, food and beverage, retail and business-services jobs are available in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Sabah and resort areas. Malay, Chinese and Indian traditions influence everyday life, while English is widely used in hotels and business. Living costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is the most urban and expensive, while resort islands may have fewer services and seasonal employment. Malaysia offers warm weather, diverse food, beaches and a generally relaxed lifestyle, though traffic and humidity can be challenging. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, an approved Employment Pass and relevant immigration clearance before starting work. Employers often guide the application process; candidates should confirm visa eligibility, accommodation, insurance and relocation support in writing.
