Destination Guide

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, culinary operations, engineering, wellness, marine activities, finance and management. Resort life is international and structured, with employees commonly living on-site and working shifts. Local culture is shaped by Islam, close community ties, seafood-based cuisine and respect for modest dress and religious customs, especially when visiting inhabited islands. Staff accommodation, meals, uniforms and recreational facilities are often included, but conditions vary by employer. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, with medical checks and document verification arranged through the employer. Relocation usually involves an employer-booked flight, airport transfer and onboarding on the resort island. Transport between islands is normally by speedboat, domestic flight or seaplane. Malé provides the main gateway for banking, shopping and government services. Candidates should confirm salary, leave, insurance, internet access, rotation schedules and visa costs before accepting an offer.
