Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, retail, events, floristry, catering, finance, technology and tourism. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and Cantonese food, festivals, markets and efficient public transport are central to everyday life. The lifestyle is energetic and urban, with excellent dining, shopping, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands, although housing is expensive and living space can be limited. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa arranged through a sponsoring company before starting work. The employer normally supports the application with an offer letter, qualifications and proof that the role meets immigration requirements. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport and health insurance, and arrange accommodation near an MTR station where possible. English is widely used in hotels, while Cantonese is valuable for customer-facing roles.
