Job Description

The Events Coordinator supports the planning and delivery of conferences, weddings, meetings, and other functions at Shangri-La Colombo. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in hospitality, event management, business, or a related field, along with experience in hotel events, banqueting, or customer service. Company Info

Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, travel services, technology, finance, education, and international business. Colombo is the main commercial centre and has the widest range of professional roles, while resort areas such as Galle, Bentota, Kandy, and the Maldives-facing southern coast provide hospitality work. The culture is warm and diverse, blending Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. English is widely used in tourism and business, although Sinhala or Tamil is valuable for everyday life. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, with affordable food, transport, and accommodation, though imported goods can be expensive. Sri Lanka offers beaches, mountains, wildlife, historic cities, and a relaxed outdoor lifestyle. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work visa or residence approval; tourist status does not permit employment. Confirm current requirements with the employer and Sri Lankan immigration authorities before relocating.
