Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, finance, logistics and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food and lively neighbourhoods, although rent and everyday costs can be high. Popular areas include Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Little India and Kampong Glam. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, and approval depends on salary, qualifications, experience and prevailing government rules. Applicants should confirm eligibility before relocating. New arrivals commonly arrange temporary accommodation first, then seek housing near an MRT station. Singapore’s hot, humid climate, efficient healthcare and international community make relocation manageable, while annual leave and benefits depend on the employment contract.
