Destination Guide

Singapore is a highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and retail. The culture is multicultural, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant dining and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, particularly near the city centre, so many newcomers rent rooms or share apartments. Singapore has a hot, humid climate throughout the year and frequent rain. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality professionals commonly use an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary and eligibility requirements. The employer usually submits the application, while approval depends on current government rules. Before relocating, candidates should confirm pass eligibility, accommodation costs, medical requirements and employment benefits. Singapore offers an excellent base for exploring Southeast Asia.
