Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering, events and tourism, particularly for experienced managers and skilled culinary professionals. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; respectful dress, religious awareness and professional conduct are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, dining, desert excursions and a busy urban social scene, although summers are extremely hot. Most expatriate employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, identification processing and sometimes accommodation, transport, flights or health insurance, but packages vary and should be checked carefully. Candidates should verify the written offer, recruitment fees, probation terms and benefits before relocating. Living costs can be high, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so accommodation and allowances are significant considerations.
