Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, retail, technology and finance. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. Life is safe, convenient and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, international dining and many green spaces. Housing can be expensive, so applicants should compare staff accommodation, shared rentals and commuting costs before relocating. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality professionals may qualify for an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit depending on salary, qualifications and government criteria. The employer normally submits the application, and approval is required before starting work. Candidates should confirm medical checks, accommodation, meals, service charge, leave and air-travel benefits directly with Shangri-La.
