Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, software engineering, cloud services, shared-service centers, finance, manufacturing, and AI-related roles, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Johor. The country combines modern cities with beaches, tropical islands, rainforests, and a multicultural society influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or major Western cities, while food, public transport, healthcare, and housing vary considerably by location. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Perhentian, and Redang. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; requirements depend on salary, qualifications, and role. Relocating employees should arrange employment approval, accommodation, insurance, banking, and tax registration before arrival. English is widely used in business, although learning basic Malay is helpful for daily life.
