Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in technology sales, SAP consulting, cloud services, software engineering, shared services and digital transformation, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest range of multinational employers and a fast-paced urban lifestyle, while Penang combines a strong technology sector with a more relaxed island setting. Langkawi is popular for beaches and quieter living, although professional opportunities are more limited. Malaysian culture is diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business. Living costs are moderate compared with many international hubs, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Candidates should confirm pass eligibility, salary thresholds, tax obligations and relocation benefits before accepting an offer.
