Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, software delivery, shared services, finance, engineering, and digital transformation, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor. For an island lifestyle, Penang combines beaches, heritage streets, excellent food, and a growing technology sector; Langkawi is quieter and more resort-oriented, while Sabah and Sarawak offer nature, outdoor activities, and multicultural communities. Malaysian workplace culture is generally respectful, relationship-focused, and moderately hierarchical, with English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are reasonable compared with many international business hubs, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular island areas cost more. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and approval depends on salary, qualifications, and company eligibility. Before relocating, confirm visa processing, healthcare, tax, housing, transport, and dependent arrangements with the employer.
