Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak, particularly in technology, shared services, consulting, finance, manufacturing, tourism, and digital commerce. Kuala Lumpur is the main corporate hub, while Penang is strong in electronics and technology; Langkawi and other islands focus more on tourism and hospitality. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with excellent food and generally welcoming communities. Urban living provides modern transport, healthcare, shopping, and reliable internet, while island life is slower and more dependent on tourism. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval handled through Malaysian immigration authorities. Relocating requires a valid passport, employment contract, visa approval, accommodation planning, and health insurance. Costs are moderate compared with many global business centres, although Kuala Lumpur housing varies significantly by location.
