Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor Bahru, including database administration, cloud services, software development, cybersecurity and shared-service roles. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest employment market, international schools, public transport, shopping and diverse dining, while Penang combines a strong technology sector with a relaxed island lifestyle. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur housing is more expensive. Beaches, islands, rainforests and excellent food make weekends varied and affordable. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the company usually manages the application. Before relocating, confirm salary, benefits, tax treatment, medical coverage, accommodation and pass eligibility. A local bank account and residence registration may also be required.
