Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities for DevSecOps professionals, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya and Penang, where technology, financial services, shared-service and engineering employers are concentrated. For an island lifestyle, Penang combines a strong technology scene with heritage streets, beaches and excellent food. Langkawi is quieter and more tourism-focused, while parts of Sabah and Sarawak offer nature, lower-density living and growing business activity. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with many international technology hubs, although central Kuala Lumpur rents can be higher. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before starting work; the employer normally handles the application. Bring certified qualifications, allow time for immigration processing and check current salary and eligibility requirements before relocating.
