Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, and Penang, with roles in software engineering, cloud, SAP, shared services, and consulting. Penang combines a growing technology sector with a relaxed island lifestyle, while Langkawi is better known for beaches, tourism, and a slower pace. Sabah and Sarawak offer attractive nature, multicultural communities, and emerging business opportunities, although technology roles are more limited. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, with English commonly used in professional workplaces. Living costs are moderate, though Kuala Lumpur rents are higher. Foreign employees typically require employer-sponsored approval and an Employment Pass before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications, and role. Relocating employees should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, tax registration, banking, and transport in advance. Malaysia provides convenient food, public transport in major cities, warm weather, and easy regional travel.
