Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and emerging digital hubs, with demand for software developers, cloud specialists, data professionals and cybersecurity experts. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest employment market, modern shopping and dining, and convenient public transport. Penang offers a relaxed island lifestyle, beaches and a strong technology and manufacturing sector, while Langkawi is better suited to quieter coastal living than daily corporate commuting. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, with English widely used in business. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or major Western cities. Foreign employees usually need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; the company normally manages the application. Before relocating, confirm salary, medical coverage, tax obligations, housing, schooling and the pass requirements with HR and Malaysian authorities.
