The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international communities, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in Singapore or major Western cities, while Malaysia provides excellent food, modern malls, public transport in larger cities and easy access to beaches and islands such as Langkawi, Tioman and Perhentian. Kuala Lumpur is the main corporate hub; Penang is popular for technology and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must meet immigration requirements before work begins. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, salary, relocation support, healthcare and tax obligations before accepting an offer.
