Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in technology, shared services, telecommunications, engineering, finance and digital consulting, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor. For an island lifestyle, Penang combines strong technology employment with heritage neighborhoods, beaches, excellent food and a relatively relaxed pace. Langkawi is quieter and more tourism-focused, while Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo offer nature, outdoor activities and growing commercial centers, though technology roles are less concentrated. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business. Living costs are moderate, with Kuala Lumpur generally more expensive than Penang or smaller cities. Foreign employees normally require employer-sponsored authorization, such as an Employment Pass, and should not begin work before approval. Relocation planning should cover accommodation, healthcare, transport, banking, taxes and dependent visas. Check current immigration requirements with Capgemini and Malaysian authorities.
