Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology and consulting opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor, with additional roles in Penang, Johor and Sabah. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market, international schools, modern transport, shopping and a wide range of housing, restaurants and healthcare. Penang is popular for its relaxed island lifestyle, beaches, heritage culture and growing technology sector. Langkawi and Sabah offer attractive coastal living, although professional opportunities are more limited. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Living costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer; approval depends on the role, salary and company eligibility. Candidates should confirm visa rules, qualifications, tax obligations, healthcare and relocation benefits with Capgemini before moving.
