Destination Guide

Malaysia offers career opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor, especially in technology consulting, finance, shared services, engineering and digital operations. Kuala Lumpur is the main corporate hub, while Penang is known for electronics and manufacturing. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are moderate compared with many global cities, although central Kuala Lumpur is more expensive. The country offers varied lifestyles, from urban apartments and shopping districts to beaches and island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang and the Perhentian Islands. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the employer normally handles the application. Relocating candidates should check eligibility, healthcare coverage, housing, taxation and dependent-pass requirements before moving. Public transport is strongest in major cities, while island areas are more relaxed and tourism-focused.
