Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and emerging digital hubs, with roles in software engineering, cloud, cybersecurity, data and consulting. For an island lifestyle, Penang is popular for its strong technology sector, heritage culture, beaches and relatively relaxed pace. Langkawi offers a quieter coastal setting, though professional opportunities are more limited and often tourism-focused. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, with diverse food and festivals. Living costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular expatriate areas cost more. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and approval depends on qualifications, salary and the employing company. Before relocating, confirm visa conditions, healthcare coverage, tax obligations, housing and transport. English is widely used in business, while learning basic Malay can make daily life easier.
