Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor for SAP, cloud, software, shared services, engineering and consulting professionals. Kuala Lumpur has the broadest corporate market, while Penang is known for electronics and manufacturing; Johor benefits from proximity to Singapore and expanding data-centre activity. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, and English is widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than Singapore, though central Kuala Lumpur rents can be significant. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling the application and eligibility requirements. Families may require dependent passes, and qualifications or experience can affect approval. Research tax, healthcare, housing, schooling and commuting before relocating. Malaysia’s tropical climate, diverse food, islands and relatively convenient urban transport make it attractive for both career development and day-to-day living.
