Malaysia offers technology and telecommunications opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor, with additional roles in island locations such as Penang and Langkawi. Penang is known for electronics, engineering, shared services, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle, while Kuala Lumpur provides the widest range of corporate and IT jobs. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular island areas can be more expensive. Foreign professionals normally require employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the employer usually manages the application. Candidates should confirm salary, relocation support, healthcare, tax obligations, and work authorization before moving. Public transport is strongest in major cities; island living may require a car or scooter.
