Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor, particularly in IT services, cloud operations, cybersecurity, software development, shared services, and enterprise platforms. Popular islands and coastal destinations include Penang, Langkawi, Tioman, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, each offering beaches, food, nature, and different lifestyles. Malaysia is culturally diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous communities, and English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur is more expensive. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass; the employer typically handles the application, and approval depends on salary, qualifications, and role. Candidates should confirm visa conditions, tax obligations, healthcare coverage, relocation support, and remote-work rules before accepting an offer. Public transport is convenient in major cities, while island living may involve fewer professional services and transport options.
