Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, SAP, cloud services, shared-service centers, finance, engineering, manufacturing and digital operations, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, with diverse food, festivals and generally welcoming communities. Lifestyle costs are lower than in many major global business hubs, although central Kuala Lumpur housing and international schooling can be expensive. Malaysia has mainland destinations as well as island locations such as Penang, Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu, offering beaches, heritage and outdoor activities. Foreign professionals generally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with the hiring company handling much of the application process. Applicants should confirm current salary thresholds, dependent-pass rules and immigration requirements before relocating.
