Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, and other technology and business centres, with demand for consultants, analysts, software professionals, finance specialists, and shared-services talent. Peninsular Malaysia includes popular islands such as Langkawi, Penang, and the Perhentian Islands, while Sabah and Sarawak offer access to Borneo’s beaches, rainforests, and marine parks. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are generally moderate, although Kuala Lumpur is more expensive than smaller cities. Public transport is strongest in Kuala Lumpur and Penang; island living is quieter but may offer fewer corporate jobs. Foreign professionals normally require employer-sponsored work authorization, such as an Employment Pass, and should confirm current immigration rules before relocating. Healthcare, housing, schooling, and tax arrangements should be reviewed in advance.
