Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, shared services, finance transformation, SAP, engineering and digital operations. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Petaling Jaya are the main corporate hubs, while Penang is known for technology and manufacturing, and Johor benefits from its proximity to Singapore. For island living, Penang provides excellent food, heritage districts and a practical urban lifestyle; Langkawi is quieter and more tourism-focused; Sabah and Sarawak offer nature, diverse communities and a slower pace. Malaysian workplace culture is generally respectful, multicultural and relationship-oriented, with English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with Singapore, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the company normally manages the application. Dependants may require separate passes. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules, healthcare coverage, taxation and relocation support before accepting an offer.
