Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied relocation choices. Penang is popular with technology, engineering, shared-services, and manufacturing professionals; it combines a strong expatriate community, heritage culture, beaches, and relatively moderate living costs. Langkawi provides a quieter island lifestyle and tourism-related opportunities, although senior corporate roles are fewer. Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo offer opportunities in energy, engineering, plantations, logistics, tourism, and public infrastructure, with access to distinctive nature and indigenous cultures. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor remain the main hubs for consulting and multinational careers, while Johor benefits from manufacturing and Singapore-linked business. Malaysia is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, and English is widely used professionally. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the company normally handles the application. Plan for healthcare, housing, schooling, taxation, and international relocation costs before moving.
