Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning the Malay Peninsula and parts of Borneo, with popular island destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Sabah and Sarawak. Most technology jobs are concentrated in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Cyberjaya and Penang, while Kuching and Kota Kinabalu offer smaller but growing digital markets. The culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are moderate compared with many major global cities, and public transport, food and healthcare are accessible in urban areas. Malaysia offers a tropical lifestyle, beaches, rainforests and diverse cuisine. Foreign employees normally require employer-sponsored authorization, such as an Employment Pass, before starting work. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, relocation support, taxes, healthcare and remote-work arrangements with Capgemini. An international driving permit may help outside city centers.
