Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in technology consulting, software development, business analysis, shared services, finance, engineering, and digital operations. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Cyberjaya are the main professional hubs, while Penang is strong in technology and manufacturing. Popular island destinations include Penang, Langkawi, Tioman, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, each offering different lifestyles. Malaysia is culturally diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or Western Europe, although central Kuala Lumpur rents can be significant. Employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Before relocating, check salary, medical coverage, tax obligations, contract terms, and visa eligibility. Public transport is best in major cities, while island living usually requires more private transport and fewer corporate services.
