Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in technology consulting, software development, shared services, finance, engineering, digital marketing, and customer operations, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, and Cyberjaya. Its islands and coastal destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and the Perhentian Islands, provide relaxed lifestyles, beaches, diving, and outdoor activities. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences; English is widely used in business, alongside Malay and other languages. Living costs are generally lower than in the UK, although Kuala Lumpur rents and international-school fees can be significant. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must meet current immigration requirements. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm sponsorship, check healthcare and tax arrangements, and arrange accommodation before relocating. Malaysia has a tropical climate, efficient urban services, and varied food and transport options.
