Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor, with demand for cloud, API integration, cybersecurity, software engineering and data professionals. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market, international schools, hospitals, public transport, shopping and a diverse expatriate community. Penang combines a strong technology and manufacturing sector with a relaxed island lifestyle, beaches and lower living costs than the capital. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. Living costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals typically need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the company normally handles the application and approval process. Candidates should confirm eligibility, salary thresholds and dependent arrangements with the employer and Malaysian authorities before relocating. English is widely used in business, while learning basic Malay helps with daily life.
